Hi! My name is Katie Beaulieu, and I am a 16 year old full DP student in Royal Oak Michigan. I am really good at math, writing, and overall analytical thinking, which is why I thought the DP programme would be perfect for me. I also cheer both on the sidelines and competitively for the cheer team at my high school. When I am not at school, practice, or doing homework I love to read and cook as well. My favorite genre of books is cheesy romance. I have been cooking for a while and I love to experiment with trying new recipes and making things fully from scratch. I also love to write and overall spend time being creative. Going off of that, I would like to improve some of my artistic skills to represent my creativity in new ways. I have always wanted to try attending a cooking class as well, I want to learn how to chop vegetables the professional way, and how to create my own recipes.
I would like to be more involved with my community. I would love to try to volunteer at my local library, and shop small businesses more often to show support. I also love to help out around my school often. I gave tours to the incoming freshmen this summer, and I always step up to help out the advisors when they need it outside of my original scheduled volunteer hours. I also get help often from the people around me. My mom is my greatest support system for when times get tough. I also have coaches who help me improve in my sport, and teachers who I have met with for some one on one tutoring time.
This summer, I was enraged when I heard the news of the overturning of Roe V Wade, I was away on vacation at the time, so I attended some protests that were around me. Reproductive rights is something I am really passionate about, so I would love to find ways to get involved in that, especially locally because I didn't get the chance during the initial overturning. I would love to learn more about how much political influence I have, or can create. As well as ways to use my voice or my power to create the change I want to see. Overall, becoming a better global citizen.
